Our Recognition Process
The Capstone 10 is determined through a rigorous, transparent, multi-stage evaluation process conducted by our editorial team every year.
Data Collection
We collect data from official university sources, the IPEDS database, LinkedIn salary reports, and graduate employment surveys. All data points are verified against at least two independent sources.
Eligibility Screening
Programs must be SACSCOC, MSCHE, WSCUC, HLC, or NWCCU accredited; currently enrolling students; and have at least 3 years of graduate outcomes data to be eligible.
Quantitative Scoring
Each eligible program receives a numerical score across our five evaluation dimensions using a standardized rubric. Scores are normalized across program types (online vs. on-campus, master's vs. doctoral).
Editorial Review
Our editorial board of 5 members — including active AI practitioners and former admissions officers — reviews the top 60 programs and applies qualitative adjustments based on current industry trends.
Student Input
We survey current students and recent alumni (minimum 50 responses per program) and weight their satisfaction scores at 10% of the final ranking.
Final Selection
The top 30 programs are announced each January. Programs are notified in advance and given the opportunity to provide updated data. No program pays for inclusion.
